CHICAGO -- On the final day of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society's annual conference, National Coordinator for Health IT Karen DeSalvo and acting CMS Administrator Andy Slavitt took the stage to detail federal efforts to leverage health IT.
User Experience, usability, and user-centered design principles were on the forefront of conversations around the topic of clinician/patient satisfaction, safety-enhanced design, and value optimization. Here are a few highlights of the programming and events taking place at HIMSS15 related to the topic of health IT UX.
As I prepare for HIMSS15 in Chicago, from April 12-16 at McCormick Place, I think about the transformation of health care through the power of IT -- through innovation, engagement, leadership and more. And, I know others share in this vision; our nearly 40,000 attendees and more than 1,200 exhibiting companies join us to discover, inspire and create the future of health through IT.
Here are the five things I am watching at HIMSS15.

SANTA CLARA, CALIF. -- Placing more care decisions in the hands of consumers and personalizing that experience is a major theme in health application and product development today, as evidenced at the 8th annual Health 2.0 conference, held in Santa Clara, Calif., last week.
However, providers, payers and government regulators may tap the brakes on this trend, as they continue to worry about patient safety and privacy in the new digital realm.
Join ONC's Mike Lipinski on Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 1pm – 2pm EDT for a webinar focusing on the ONC 2014 Edition Release 2 final rule.
